The German Walther Machalett Association for Prehistory and Early History (Arbeits- und Forschungskreis Walther Machalett für Vor- und Frühgeschichte e.V.) holds a 4-day conference each year at Horn-Bad Meinberg in Germany starting on Ascension Day. Since Ascension Day is always on a Thursday, the conference always runs from Thursday to Sunday. Papers are given in German. Conference attendance costs €20 or €10 per day. Since the Machalett Association has many members, many of the presentations are quite well attended, and there were nearly 100 people at my presentation of my paper on the Extern Stones (Externsteine) at the 39th conference this year.
The 40th Conference of the Walther Machalett Association is scheduled to take place from May 24 to May 28, 2006 in the Hotel Vialon, which has conference facilities. The call for papers is closed.
The 41st Conference of the Walther Machalett Association is scheduled to take place from May 16 to May 20, 2007 in the Burgscheune in Horn (Burgstraße, Horn, Lippe - this is not a hotel, but a conference facility). The call for papers is still open.
