Philip Earthworks at Lake Marion, Florida show the Circle of Stars at 34 Ceti, 38 Ceti, 39 Ceti and 42 Ceti, with 34 Ceti the Star On the Edge of the Circle

Big Mound City and the Big Circle Mounds in the previous posting are probative evidence for the ancient Native America land survey by astronomy. The Philip Earthworks on the other hand can only be viewed as intelligent speculation.

The Philip Earthworks at Lake Marion, Florida near Haines City are diagrammed in an image at page 217 in William N. Morgan, Precolumbian Architecture in Eastern North America, Ripley P. Bullen Series, Florida Museum of Natural History, University of Florida Press, Gainesville, FL, 1999, http://www.upf.com/.

In a redrawn larger decipherment image below we show that the earthworks could have represented the approximate circle of stars found between Cetus and Pisces at HIP 6605 and 34 Ceti, 38 Ceti, 39 Ceti and 42 Ceti, with 34 Ceti being the Philip Earthworks star that is found somewhat "outside" that circle as the "borrow pit" for the earthworks.

Given the paucity of any other kind of information anywhere online, however, this identification must remain speculative. We presume the earthworks are found inside the Lake Marion Creek Wildlife Management Area.

As usual, the star positions are shown via Starry Night Pro, http://astronomy.starrynight.com/.
