The "Next" Great Google Earth Image Mystery for Archaeology, Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy Buffs : Where is the Location of this Image on Earth and in the Stars?

The "Next" Great Google Earth Image Mystery for Archaeology, Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy Buffs has started with this posting for the image found further below.

We ran our first Great Google Earth Image Mystery at the end of the year 2014 and no one solved it.

Then at the end of February we ran The Great Thunderbird Challenge for the World's Archaeologists, Astronomers and Archaeoastronomers : One Petroglyph and 60 Stars! No one solved that one either.

We now give the archaeological, astronomical and archaeoastronomical communities an opportunity to catch up a point with this "Next" Great Google Earth Image Mystery for Archaeology, Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy Buffs.

Below is the image from Google Earth for which of course we know the exact location both on Earth and in the Sky. Click on the image to get a larger view.

What we want to know in this mystery challenge are the answers to the following two questions:
  1. Where is the above image located on Earth? It is nearly as large as a football field! We googled the image in Google Image Search and found ... nothing ...  only a bunch of junk images not even closely related. Even relevant .kmz files seem not to mark this location. But we are not infallible or all-seeing. Perhaps we have missed a reference?
  2. What stars could the clearly visible cupmark-like (viz. cupule-like) circular markings represent, and why? We will shortly post this same image with a star map from Starry Night Pro pasted over the image to show the general star correspondence. About that correspondence, there is little question.
Archaeologists,
unsheathe your trowels!
Astronomers,
aim your telescopes!

We cite for the near origin of the above expressions to these sources:
  • D. James, The Patriarchal Religion of Britain, 1836, reprinted in London by Forgotten Books, 2013: "we must ... gape at [the Druids] ... unsheathed swords, and stars, and trowels.... ", and
  • www.Fourmilab.ch, Your Sky: Virtual Telescope Control Panel, Aim Point (the site developer, John Walker, a genius in his own right, is the founder of Autodesk, Inc. and co-author of AutoCAD.) Even if you do not own an astronomy software program, you can use Aim Point .... Indeed, when we present our decipherment of the above image and reveal its location, we will give you the data to feed into Aim Point in order to find the stars.
The next posting will start a series of presentations concerning our 2015 revised decipherment of the Brickell Point Miami Circle in Miami, Florida.

At this point, we by chance take a look at Education World and The Great Gatsby revisited on the 90th birthday of the book, April 11:
"TIME’s original review, though noting Fitzgerald’s talent, gave little hint of the fame waiting for the book. "Still the brightest boy in the class, Scott Fitzgerald holds up his hand," the review said."
For good reason, still our favorite "modern" book. He reminds us of us.

 Good luck!
