We have a series of postings, referred to below, showing that the stone outcrops of the Preseli Hills etc. in Wales were quite clearly and visibly carved as astronomy, with recognizable anthropomorphic figures to mark the stars.
"Speckled" bluestones from Wales were transported and used at Stonehenge to mark major lunar cycles (Metonic and Saros cylces) because of the similarity of the speckles to the appearance of the stars in the sky at night.
The only thing erratic about the stones at Stonehenge are people posting nonsense about glacial erratics. We wrote about that old absurdity some years ago: it is an old theory, and it was as wrong then as it is now.
In our own age of alleged global warming and many clearly receding glaciers, strange as it may seem to the erratics, no "glacial erratics" even remotely close in form to those at Stonehenge have ever modernly appeared anywhere as glaciers recede.
We do not deny the existence of glacial erratics, but they do not look like the stones at Stonehenge. Besides, even if glaciers were depositing stones like this, we would expect Salisbury Plain literally to be covered with them. But it is not.
The notion that "megaliths" are glacial erratics, rather than the purposefuly erected landmark stones that many actually are, is an old erratic fantasy of erring so-called geologists and morphogeologists for whom any stone found where it should not be geologically by theory must therefore necessarily be a "glacial erratic". Once again, the science of "tunnel vision" raises its head.
The idea that stone age man could purposefully move very large stones seems not to enter the minds of the erratics so that they should take a day off from work and walk around Avebury. There it is impossible to argue that those stones are "glacial erratics" in situ. By comparison, moving the much smaller bluestones from Wales would have been a piece of cake.
Lastly, it is clear that the ancients used the force of heat, cold and water at so-called "quarries" to break stones as needed. Those modernly complaining that they do not find the "tools" they expect at these quarries indicate that they have little understanding of their subject and should be doing something else.

The Chump Factor: Krugman at the New York Times: The Inability of People to Admit Their Wrongs and Adapt Their Views Accordingly
Once people take a stance on a given issue, they are unlikely to change their minds and admit that they were in the wrong, even if it becomes clear later that they in fact had erred. Wishful thinking and saving face rather than facing reality guides their actions.
We see this particularly in the paradigms of mainstream science and in political, economic, social and religious views and affiliations. People will cling to their previously made allegiances regardless of the actual facts.
Although a certain amount of "loyalty" is surely laudable, blind allegiance is not, although the "Chump Factor" is a widespread human characteristic. We see a lot of this in disciplines such as Archaeology so that it is no surprise to find it surfacing in current politics as well.
Economist Paul Krugman has it right in principle at the New York Times in discussing the U.S. Presidential candidates at http://krugman.blogs.nytimes. com/2015/12/15/the-donald-and- the-chump-factor/?emc=edit_ty_ 20151215&nl=opinion&nlid= 14116646.
As Krugman writes:
"Nobody likes looking like a chump, and most people will go to great lengths to convince themselves that they weren't."
Krugman, however, wrongly points to Donald Trump and his supporters as an example. Regardless of one's political leanings, Trump's supporters have thus far not been proven to be "in the wrong" at all. Trump leads, and he could win.
We say that as a political centrist.
What about all those who support and sponsor a broad field of Republican Party candidates who have no chance of winning? What about all those GOP candidates who lack the common sense to drop out of the race even though they are clearly out of the running? What does it say about a political party when "everyone" out there wants to be President? We call that wishful thinking.
The Democratic Party candidates fare no better under the "Chump Factor" test.
Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State of the USA in the Obama administration from January 2009 to February 2013. That is FOUR years. Wikipedia: "She viewed "smart power" as the strategy for asserting U.S. leadership and values, by combining military power with diplomacy and American capabilities in economics, technology, and other areas." What was the result? The result is a world in chaos. Unchanged thereafter, she has committed herself to an errant foreign policy philosophy based on wishful thinking which has proven wrong.
The Democratic Party has another puzzling candidate in 74-year old Bernie Sanders looking longingly for an American version of Scandinavia in the States. A socialist-type system that is effective primarily in the more-or-less homogeneous (uniform, unvarying) countries of northern Europe has no chance of succeeding in the heterogeneous (diverse, non-uniform) USA. It is just is not going to happen. A President can not run a nation based on wishful thinking.

Ancient Aboriginal Astronomical Legends Are to Some Degree True According to New Research Presented via BBC News
Archaeologists have generally disdained ancient aboriginal astronomical legends, but new research is proving that certainly some astronomical Aboriginal legends reveal ancient secrets to science, and in fact retain a true account of events in the past. Myles Gough has the story at BBC News.

The Even Bigger World
The word "awesome" is overused for thousands of things that are not awesome.
Now THIS - IS awesome.

That's what keeps our world turning.
Without that "ancient" warmth, forget it.
How old is our Sun? It is middle-aged at about 4.5 billion years old.
The "Ancient World" of mankind is really not old at all in comparison.
It pays to keep things in perspective in our "modern" world.

Of Interest to Authors in Academia: The Book Scanning Case Finally Decided in Favor of Google
It took the legal system 10 years, but they finally got it right.
Book scanning as done by Google Books, formerly Google Print (now part of Alphabet Inc.) is "fair use" in the eyes of the law according to a decision of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals issued yesterday (see Reuters), October 16, 2015, in the case Authors Guild, Inc. v., Google, Inc., Docket No. 13-4829-cv.
The Circuit Court judges on the 2nd Circuit panel for the present decision were:
The .pdf of the court decision is downloadable here via this link.
This Circuit Court decision ends more than 10 years of litigation, whereby the class certification was rightly rejected in 2013 by the 2nd Circuit and the case remanded for consideration of Google's fair use defense, a defense upheld at the District Court level by Judge Denny Chin (sitting by designation) and now upheld at the Circuit Court level by a 3-judge panel.
See generally for reports covering yesterday's decision:
Our track record in correctly calling the ultimate resolution of important legal issues in the intellectual copyright field is nearly flawless (just look at patents) and, as here, we are usually 10 or more years ahead of actual developments.
That applies not just to legal issues in general but also to our publications about the history of civilization, linguistics, ancient astronomy and archaeology, where our basic conclusions will be substantiated in coming years. We write for the very top echelons, and that is only a handful of people, if they can be found.

"So too should common sense revolt at the claims of this law suit. I’m an academic, so this is a bit biased, but: Google Print could be the most important contribution to the spread of knowledge since Jefferson dreamed of national libraries. It is an astonishing opportunity to revive our cultural past, and make it accessible."
we wrote inter alia:
"We remain convinced that what Google is doing - or planning to do, by offering snippets of an existing database for its search engine, is permissible transformative use - and thus fair use under § 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act."In Transformative Use Justifies GooglePrint Scans of Entire Books as Fair Use we concluded inter alia:
"[I]f the judges find against Google Print [now "Google Books"], they basically have to invalidate the entire process of search engine servers storing masses of online copyrighted material, the corpus of which they access in order to provide useful search results in “snippet” form. A decision for the Author’s Guild would simply lead to internet search chaos, and that is not the role of the courts. They have to apply the law sensibly. Hence, we think Google Print will win."Of course, that is not all. One should read the above postings in full for a complete picture of the applicable legal arguments.

The Rule of Law as the Foundation of Civilization
Law and order, the rule of laws and not men, and the rise of human civilization, or its periodic decline, are inextricably entwined.
America currently has numerous serious problems, not the least of which are people in the legal profession who appear not to understand "the law".
Our statement above reacts to an article at cnsnews.com headlined Legal Scholars Urge Officeholders: Refuse to Accept Same-Sex Marriage Opinion as Binding Precedent.
To our great astonishment so-called "legal scholars" urge government officials in the United States to ignore U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
The entire basis of "law and order" in the civilized world, especially for people conservatively minded, is that law court decisions must be obeyed, even if they involve minor transgressions such as illegal parking or minor traffic violations.
Imagine if U.S. citizens and residents could select which laws to follow and which to ignore. There would be anarchy and chaos everywhere. We already have enough examples worldwide of the consequences of the breakdown of judicially imposed "law and order".
How can people within the legal profession seriously incite government employees to disregard U.S. Supreme Court decisions and thus to feel free to "pick and choose" the laws and court decisions that they choose to obey in the exercise of their paid and sworn duties?
They have a legal option: if government officials disagree strongly with what the laws and court decisions tell them to do, then they should look for another job.
Who has the legal right here -- according to law?
It is the U.S. Supreme Court which possesses Constitutional jurisdiction as the nation's highest court to have the last say on what is constitutional and what is not constitutional as a matter of law.
Individual citizens, also as government employees, are free of course to have their own "opinions" about U.S. Supreme Court decisions and the legal, political, economic and societal issues to which those decisions may relate, but they have ZERO jurisdiction to decide what is constitutional as a matter of law and what is not constitutional in any particular government-related matter.
In the government offices which they hold, government officials are sworn to uphold the nation's laws, and what those laws require is decided by the nation's highest court, and not by individual government employees either in their private or employment capacities.
One can be sure that the present ultra-conservative U.S. Supreme Court has issued many more decisions which are repugnant to liberal views than the decisions they have made which are opposed by those who oppose the Supreme Court's decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges decision.
Picking out one case that did not go their way as a case for disobedience is ludicrous. If what the "alleged" legal scholars write were true, then we could all just ignore any Supreme Court decision we chose. Just do as we please. LOL.
We say "so-called" and "alleged" legal scholars because the label "legal scholar" generally derives from some kind of authority of position granted to an individual by some organization or institution which is recognized as having the jurisdiction to grant that authority of position in contemporary American society.
But why give ANY credence to the decisions of those lesser institutions, including the titles they have granted, if the dictates of the much higher institution, the U.S. Supreme Court, are incited to be ignored?
What do we care what "title" some group has granted to ANYONE?
Thankfully, civilized society is governed by the sane consent of the governed to the main rules and orders of civilized life in a democratic nation such as the United States.
If that were not so, then people would feel free to challenge anyone and any institution, including the so-called "legal scholars" and the institutions who pay their salaries, to which the average U.S. citizen or resident has no "privity", i.e. they mean nothing to them, either in law or in fact.
Judge Learned Hand commented on "the spirit of liberty" as follows [formatted]:
Those who choose to attack the pillars of society must recognize that in doing so, they also destroy the foundation upon which they themselves are sitting.
It reminds us of James Clerk Maxwell's poem (Maxwell was the founder of electromagnetism and one of the greats of modern science) which he wrote as his "notes" regarding the President's Address at the British Association, 1874. His comments on "petty promotion[s] in nebulous kingdoms of mist" are instructive:
"In the very beginnings of science,
the parsons, who managed things then,
Being handy with hammer and chisel,
made gods in the likeness of men;
Till Commerce arose, and at length
some men of exceptional power
Supplanted both demons and gods by the atoms,
which last to this hour.
Yet they did not abolish the gods,
but they sent them well out of the way,
With the rarest of nectar to drink,
and blue-fields of nothing to sway.
From nothing comes nothing, they told us
naught happens by chance, but by fate;
There is nothing but atoms and void,
all else is mere whims out of date!
Then why should a man curry favour
with beings who cannot exist,
To compass some petty promotion
in nebulous kingdoms of mist?
But not by the rays of the sun,
nor the glittering shafts of the day,
Must the fear of the gods be dispelled,
but by words, and their wonderful play.
So treading a path all untrod,
the poet-philosopher sings
Of the seeds of the mighty world
the first-beginnings of things;
How freely he scatters his atoms
before the beginning of years;
How he clothes them with force as a garment,
those small incompressible spheres!
Nor yet does he leave them hard-hearted
he dowers them with love and with hate,
Like spherical small British A[...]
in infinitesimal state;
Till just as that living Plato,
whom foreigners nickname Plateau,
Drops oil in his whisky-and-water
(for foreigners sweeten it so);
Each drop keeps apart from the other,
enclosed in a flexible skin,
Till touched by the gentle emotion
evolved by the prick of a pin:
Thus in atoms a simple collision
excites a sensational thrill,
Evolved through all sorts of emotion,
as sense, understanding, and will
(For by laying their heads all together,
the atoms, as councillors do,
May combine to express an opinion
to every one of them new).
There is nobody here, I should say,
has felt true indignation at all,
Till an indignation meeting
is held in the Ulster Hall;
Then gathers the wave of emotion,
then noble feelings arise,
Till you all pass a resolution
which takes every man by surprise.
Thus the pure elementary atom,
the unit of mass and of thought,
By force of mere juxtaposition
to life and sensation is brought;
So, down through untold generations,
transmission of structureless germs
Enables our race to inherit the thoughts
of beasts, fishes, and worms.
We honour our fathers and mothers,
grandfathers and grandmothers too;
But how shall we honour the vista
of ancestors now in our view?
First, then, let us honour the atom,
so lively, so wise, and so small;
The atomists next let us praise,
Epicurus, Lucretius, and all.
Let us damn with faint praise Bishop Butler,
in whom many atoms combined
To form that remarkable structure,
it pleased him to call his mind.
Last, praise we the noble body
to which, for the time, we belong,
Ere yet the swift whirl of the atoms
has hurried us, ruthless, along,
The British Association
like Leviathan worshipped by Hobbes,
The incarnation of wisdom,
built up of our witless nobs,
Which will carry on endless discussions,
when I, and probably you,
Have melted in infinite azure
in English, till all is blue."

"What do we mean when we say that first of all we seek liberty? If the dictates of the highest court of law of the nation are not to be observed, then government and academic positions are equally non-sacrosanct from challenge and can be alleged to mean "nothing". Who says you are who you are? What is the authority? And why should we recognize THAT?
I often wonder whether we do not rest our hopes too much upon constitutions, upon laws, and upon courts.
These are false hopes; believe me, these are false hopes.
Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it. While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it."
Those who choose to attack the pillars of society must recognize that in doing so, they also destroy the foundation upon which they themselves are sitting.

Sky Earth Native America Has Now Been Published in TWO Volumes as Edition 2: General Description
Sky Earth Native America has been published as a book in TWO Volumes via CreateSpace.com and can be viewed at the following two links. Both volumes are "Edition 2" since there had to be a change made from "Edition 1", which is no longer published, and that is why this posting has been amended as follows:
Both volumes have the same cover except that one has "Volume 1" on the front cover and the other has "Volume 2" on the front cover. The earth image on the cover was created using public domain space photos of the Earth from NASA.
Although this publication is primarily for my own records, there may be a few persons who are interested in acquiring these two volumes. The following two postings after this one present the Table of Contents of each book volume.
Both book volumes contain the following basic book description:

Although this publication is primarily for my own records, there may be a few persons who are interested in acquiring these two volumes. The following two postings after this one present the Table of Contents of each book volume.
Both book volumes contain the following basic book description:
"Alice Cunningham Fletcher observed in her 1902 publication in the American Anthropologist that there is ample evidence that some ancient cultures in Native America, e.g. the Pawnee in Nebraska, geographically located their villages according to patterns seen in stars of the heavens. See Alice C. Fletcher, Star Cult Among the Pawnee--A Preliminary Report, American Anthropologist, 4, 730-736, 1902.Both volumes have the following "internal" cover:
Ralph N. Buckstaff wrote: "These Indians recognized the constellations as we do, also the important stars, drawing them according to their magnitude. The groups were placed with a great deal of thought and care and show long study.... They were keen observers.... The Pawnee Indians must have had a knowledge of astronomy comparable to that of the early white men." See Ralph N. Buckstaff, Stars and Constellations of a Pawnee Sky Map, American Anthropologist, Vol. 29, Nr. 2, April-June 1927, pp. 279-285, 1927.
In our book, we take these observations one level further and show that megalithic sites and petroglyphic rock carving and pictographic rock art in Native America, together with mounds and earthworks, were made to represent territorial geographic landmarks placed according to the stars of the sky using the ready map of the starry sky in the hermetic tradition, "as above, so below".
That mirror image of the heavens on terrestrial land is the "Sky Earth" of Native America, whose "rock stars" are the real stars of the heavens, "immortalized" by rock art petroglyphs, pictographs, cave paintings, earthworks and mounds of various kinds (stone, earth, shells) on our Earth.
These landmarks were placed systematically in North America, Central America (Meso-America) and South America and can to a large degree be reconstructed as the Sky Earth of Native America."
I also appended the following information about myself as the author:

eBook Conversion Tip for Authors: Kindle-Capable MOBI Files Created From Book Docs viz. PDFs Having Both Text and Images Using K2PDFOPT and CALIBRE
We make no warranty that this will work for you. Perhaps another,
simpler method is available. When we first did this, none was. The
procedure described below is complicated, but doable and it works for
us. Here is what we do.
The objective: Creating a MOBI file usable in a Kindle publication when the book to be converted to Kindle format includes images. Normally, this can be difficult or impossible to do, since Kindle is set up mainly for text-based books. When we used the automatic CreateSpace link to convert our print book to Kindle, all we got back was impossible garble. We needed a different solution.
The method: Converting native (i.e. normal) pdf files of text and images to a pdf file consisting of each page as a singular graphic image page, i.e. including text and graphics as one image, which is then shown in that format on Kindle.
First: Create a normal "native" pdf file of your book from e.g. a .docx file which can be done in Microsoft Word (latest version) via the "Export" function under the menu item "File". This works for us in the subsequently described conversion procedure. We can not speak for pdf files created by other programs.
Second: Download and use K2pdfopt. Load that native pdf file into the file list of the program K2PDFOPT (download the version suitable for your system). K2pdfopt has dozens of commands for tweaking pdf files.
Our objective is to obtain each page of our book as a separate image for our pdf file and then automatically obtain a new pdf file of the whole book formatted in that manner.
Here is how you do it with k2pdfopt.exe.
The Command settings in k2pdfopt for conversion of pages as graphic images:
Load your normal "native" pdf file into the file list (do not click "native" ! in the lower commands or you just get a "normal" pdf file again).
Add these options from the options below that list:
Additional options:
enter the following settings:
The resulting pdf is a pdf composed of each page of the original source converted to one graphic image (both text and graphic image parts). This, however, reduces what the reader can do with the text in Kindle but is better than any other alternative known to us. The reader can zoom any page like a graphic image for easier reading, which is not only useful for texts, but also great for graphic images. Negative is that the font and text sizes can not be changed as such per se but can only be "zoomed". But it works.
Download Calibre. That k2pdfopt pdf "image" file of a book can then be converted to the necessary Kindle "MOBI" format using the program Calibre which can be downloaded online at http://calibre-ebook.com/.
Load the resulting k2pdfopt pdf file into Calibre and select the "Convert books" option and then pick MOBI from the list of options. Calibre converts the pdf file to MOBI -- if memory serves correctly, placing it into an automatically created CalibreBooks directory in a file named after the book author. At least, that is what we use.
Download KindlePreviewer. Check now to see how the book looks with the KindlePreviewer, which allows you to see the book in all Kindle versions, also iOS. You can now upload your book to Kindle.
Caveat Emptor: Please note that we do not do any personal consultations on this matter. We are simply reporting our experience, and if it is useful to you, fine. If not, you may have to tweak your own solution. We have at least shown then how it "could" be done. Surely improvements are possible.

The Equator Megalith of Brazil Highway BR-174 North of Manaus near Rorainópolis, State of Roraima, Brazil : Is it Ancient? We Do Not Know But Suggest It Could Be, Even if its Use is Modern
Was
the Earth's Equator recognized by the ancients through the Equinoxes?
They might then have concluded that the Earth was a sphere. If they
recognized the Equator, did they put up an ancient marker to mark its
location? Well, they surely would have put up something significant if
they had recognized it.
We note here for the record that when a straight line from Feniak Lake is drawn via Google Earth Pro not in sections but "ideally" from Feniak Lake in Alaska directly to Jabuticabeira in Brazil that line passes virtually through the Grave Creek Mound in Moundsville, West Virginia, sometimes claimed as the highest cone-shaped mound in the United States.
That could be pure chance, since there are always many possible locations that any line can pass through, or by, so we examined the course of that same line to see if we could find any other unusual things that might suggest that the ancients calculated such a line via the stars (as it was not directly measurable).
The distance from Feniak Lake to Jabuticabeira II is ca. 13700 km (nearly 9000 miles) and the line follows a bearing of 83.58 degrees i.e. ca. 84 degrees, so that this line deviates ca. 6 degrees from 90 degrees. That could be intended for survey purposes, as we noted for the Cahokia Birdman Tablet.
Can anything else of unusual significance be found on or near that line?
Indeed, near to that line in the Amazon Basin, there are virtually no through passages, but there is in fact a giant megalith on the current Brazilian Highway BR-174 near Rorainópolis, State of Roraima, Brazil. Based on photos of people standing next to that standing stone (we presume it to be made of stone), that megalith must be 4 to 5 meters tall, and it modernly marks the Equator at ca. 0° 0' 0.00" N 60° 38' 58 W (plug that GPS location into Google Earth). The megalith also has a metal plank of some kind inserted as a marker.
There is only one passage road through the Amazon. As written at the Wikipedia, "BR-174 is a federal highway of Brazil. The 3,321 km (2,064 mi) road connects Cáceres to Pacaraima on the Venezuelan border. It is the only road connection of the state of Roraima with the rest of the country."
We have been unable to find any information online about the origin of the "Equator Megalith", nor even any indication of the material of which it is made. We presume it is natural stone found in the region. Striations can be seen on the sides. Traveling by Google's "Street View" on the BR-174 one sees some large megaliths and boulders along the road, one the size of a locomotive of similar color from which, indeed, the Equator Megalith could have been taken since the end of it seems to have been quarried. But when was that done? We do not know.
We are guessing that the Equator Megalith has been reappropriated for use as a modern marker of the Equator, but in ancient times could also have served to mark the Equator. The figure pair we see carved at the tip of the megalith -- this is very speculative ! since the figures are uncertain -- are similar to those at the Andromeda and Pisces Rock at Nazca (Nasca), as previously deciphered.
This megalith, in spite of a metal plank cut into it in the modern era, could be very ancient, as it appears to resemble a phallic symbol, something the ancients, based on our research, used in their megalithic exploits, e.g. the Stone of Manau at Clackmannan, Gaellic Clach Mhanain the "man's stone".
As we have previously deciphered in Stars, Stones and Scholars, the Stone of Manau marked the stars of Perseus, and the entire megalith taken as a whole here in Brazil also has the definite shape of Perseus, the stars of which marked the Vernal Equinox ca. 3000 B.C. Look at that stone carefully in the numerous online photographs and you will see it is not just a normal stone. Moderns would not have made a smooth "boulder" of that shape.
There also appear to be weathered figures carved onto the stone, and we have traced them from a clip of the Google Street View photographs as follows. As for whether this is a phallic symbol or not, we leave that for each reader to decide. Please note that this is science and not something else. Most of the photographs online of the Equator Megalith do not photograph the back, for good reason.
The Equator Megalith at Linha do Equador can be seen online at:
Manaus was named Manaós before 1939, and known as "the heart of the Amazon". It is the, perhaps coincidental, namesake of the Stone of Manau in Scotland, which we identified years ago also as marking stars of Perseus.
We might note that the question arises as to how the ancients would get to this Amazon basin location. For seagoing navigators, they would have taken the Amazon River by boat to the present location of Manaus. How they then got to what is now the area of Rorainópolis is a good question. Reino in Spanish and Portuguese means "kingdom, realm" so that this was the center, i.e. "polis" of that realm, whatever it may have applied to when originated.
Near the location of the "Equator Megalith" there appear to be rock outcroppings viz. intaglios in anthropomorphic form and they could be interpreted to paint an active scene. On the other side of the road there seem to be earthworks which could also be anthropomorphically interpreted, but this is all very speculative. We have deciphered them, but, frankly, they are not the kind of thing that we can publish. After all, there are 7 billion humans on the planet now, and they all got here by known means. In 3000 B.C., the message would fit the megalith. Research this matter further there at your own risk. We have enough trouble getting people to read our megalithic materials seriously without adding controversial stuff.

The Equator Megalith of Brazilian Highway BR174 and Neighboring Rock Formations near Rorainópolis, Roraima
Petroglyphs of The Area of Slabs, Area das Lajes, Amazon Basin, Manaus, Brazil, South America Deciphered as a Sky Map ca. 3000 B.C.
The Area das Lajes
("Area of Slabs") was discovered recently (2010) in Manaus, Brazil on the drought-lowered Rio Negro River near its
junction with the Amazon River. Found were petroglyphs of anthropomorphic
figures, serpents and geometric figures, but as the river rose, these were lost again to the water: Megalithic.co.uk at http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=28047.
Some photographs of the petroglyphs were, however, published, prior to resubmergence. See:
The petroglyphs on the Area of Slabs present a sky whose Equinox and Solstice points in the stars correspond to a date of circa 3000 B.C. with Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cepheus, Cassiopeia, Perseus and Taurus marked on the left, corresponding to the Vernal Equinox, and Scorpio marked on the right, corresponding to the Autumn Equinox.
Also marked are Corona Borealis, Boötes, Libra, Hercules, Draco, Andromeda, Pegasus, Pisces, Circlet of Pisces, Cetus, Cygnus, Aquila, Capricorn, and Sagittarius.

Two Major Panels of the Jeffers Petroglyphs of Minnesota Are Sky Maps ca. 750 B.C. Each Representing One-Half of the Heaven of Stars at Night: Minnesota Marks the Stars of Hercules
In this posting we present our decipherments of two major panels at the Jeffers Petroglyphs in Minnesota. The petroglyphs have been redrawn relying upon Figure 2 at Mark J. Dudzik, Visions in Stone: The Rock Art of Minnesota, The Minnesota Archaeologist, 54, 1995, p. 101, Figure 1. We have divided the one Dudzik image into two separate, larger graphic images since the petroglyphs otherwise would simply be too small for practical analysis.
Rock Art sites in Minnesota are located via a map at Mark J. Dudzik, Visions in Stone: The Rock Art of Minnesota, The Minnesota Archaeologist, 54, 1995, p. 100, Figure 1. A similar map is found via An Overview of Minnesota Rock Art at http://www.osa.admin.state.mn.us/mnarch/rockart.html, at http://www.osa.admin.state.mn.us/mnarch/rockmap.html.
The locations could be interpreted as stars of Hercules, but at the moment, this is uncertain because the maps are not detailed enough at the individual locations to identify stars with certainty.
That latter map by Matt Kauia appeared originally in the Minnesota Conservation Volunteer, March-April, 2005, a bimonthly magazine of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, using the "source maps" by Mark Dudzik, Office of the State Archaeologist. To avoid copyright issues, we have completely redrawn all the maps as one, and including the "petroforms".
The geographic shape of the State of Minnesota in the United States is nearly identical to the shape of the modern constellation Hercules, whose stars -- according to our analysis -- its petroglyphic and pictographic ancient sites represent. Already in Stars Stones and Scholars we correctly assigned nearby Thunder Bay in this region to the stars of Hercules.
However, if one examines the history of the setting of boundaries for this State, then this similarity of shapes is seen to be simply chance. The shape is guided invariably by the physical topography, with the upper right "wedge-shape" fixed by Lake Superior and the lower right "wedge-shape" fixed by the Mississippi River and tributaries.

Location of the Mystery Eagle at the "Old" Pilot Mound, Manitoba: Aquila in the Ancient Land Survey of Native America by Astronomy
The hypothetical ancient Native America land survey map that we published in the previous posting had several crossing points for which we had no corresponding ancient rock art, megalithic, petroglyphic or other landmark site.
One of those mystery points was a major potential land survey and multiple Native American Indian trail crossroad -- in southern Manitoba, Canada, as already discussed for the La Reviere location as meeting place of many ancient Indian trails.
That crossing point is shown in the image below by the large yellow circle on an underlying Google Earth Pro map (copyright Google, presented here as fair use -- the text additions and interpretations are of course independently ours, as we not affiliated with Google). If this memory-intensive image does not resolve here see https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7mdqekfTprtD9RNLBCjNWw1Ilfb-FFNcsh31xT4sCPbHT1spExgLWFJdQXZ8lUeC_dlL7nj8R4ISR2pkUmzIpceFZKwtNFEYq2LJFPsu1aryV8pmJP8r0z8D2H5GfQUFBxO9C/s320/Native+America+Land+Survey+Manitoba+Eagle.png" style="" border="0" height="320" width="286"
Given that
-- all of our other very general and geographically loose (i.e. may not correspond to modern divisions) previous identifications inter alia of Alberta as Sagittarius, Saskatchewan as Scorpio, Montana as Boötes, California and Oregon as Virgo, the Southwest as Leo, Texas as Gemini, Mexico as Orion and Taurus, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as Auriga, Perseus and Pleiades, Florida as Cetus, Georgia as Aries and Pisces, Tennessee as Cassiopeia, Ohio as the Center of Heaven, the Peterborough Glyphs and vast surroundings as Cygnus (a change from Stars Stones and Scholars), Thunder Bay and surroundings, probably including Minnesota, as Hercules, and Cahokia as Ursa Major --
it could only be that
Manitoba by a process of exclusion had to be Aquila, the Eagle.
We thus said to ourselves, that there must be some marker there near that hypothetical land survey point, And so we combed the area via Google Earth Pro -- and, indeed, the missing, splendid EAGLE is exactly what we have found, unexpectedly as it were in the form we found it, as a relief somehow etched into the ground and still reflected by the topography of modern farming, a discovery which led us to issue the Great Google Earth Eagle Mystery Challenge.
The Mystery Eagle is found just North of Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Canada, a town which was relocated from the "Old Mound" found at GPS N49.22472, W98.91239 i.e. 49.224720° (North) and -98.912390° (West). The head of the eagle is located just to the right of the Pilot Mound "old mound" (there is also a second potential head of a bird to its right).
The tailfeathers and talons of the Eagle are virtually right on the Manitoba Highway 3, the Boundary Commission Trail referred to in our previous posting on A First Nations Clue to the Location of the Eagle of The Great Google Earth Eagle Mystery Challenge: The Boundary Commission Trail as the Oldest Highway in the West and the Boundary Between the USA and Canada.
We have our EAGLE.

Sky Earth Native America
American Indian Rock Art Petroglyphs Pictographs

Volume 1, Edition 2, 266 pages, by Andis Kaulins.
Sky Earth Native America 2:
American Indian Rock Art Petroglyphs Pictographs
Cave Paintings Earthworks & Mounds as Land Survey & Astronomy,
Volume 2, Edition 2, 262 pages, by Andis Kaulins.
Both volumes have the same cover except for the labels "Volume 1" viz. "Volume 2".
The image on the cover was created using public domain space photos of Earth from NASA.
Both book volumes contain the following basic book description:
"Alice Cunningham Fletcher observed in her 1902 publication in the American Anthropologist
that there is ample evidence that some ancient cultures in Native America, e.g. the Pawnee in Nebraska,
geographically located their villages according to patterns seen in stars of the heavens.
See Alice C. Fletcher, Star Cult Among the Pawnee--A Preliminary Report,
American Anthropologist, 4, 730-736, 1902.
Ralph N. Buckstaff wrote:
"These Indians recognized the constellations as we do, also the important stars,
drawing them according to their magnitude.
The groups were placed with a great deal of thought and care and show long study.
... They were keen observers....
The Pawnee Indians must have had a knowledge of astronomy comparable to that of the early white men."
See Ralph N. Buckstaff, Stars and Constellations of a Pawnee Sky Map,
American Anthropologist, Vol. 29, Nr. 2, April-June 1927, pp. 279-285, 1927.
In our book, we take these observations one level further
and show that megalithic sites and petroglyphic rock carving and pictographic rock art in Native America,
together with mounds and earthworks, were made to represent territorial geographic landmarks
placed according to the stars of the sky using the ready map of the starry sky
in the hermetic tradition, "as above, so below".
That mirror image of the heavens on terrestrial land is the "Sky Earth" of Native America,
whose "rock stars" are the real stars of the heavens, "immortalized" by rock art petroglyphs, pictographs,
cave paintings, earthworks and mounds of various kinds (stone, earth, shells) on our Earth.
These landmarks were placed systematically in North America, Central America (Meso-America) and South America
and can to a large degree be reconstructed as the Sky Earth of Native America."
