The Man-With-Raised-Arms Petroglyph of Texas Marks Stars of Taurus at Palo Duro Canyon, Second Largest Canyon in the United States

We now return to the Y-Axis of the Native North America land survey by astronomy and go to what is modernly the State of Texas, USA, which has a wonderful "man" petroglyph, which we have deciphered below as marking the stars of Taurus (here in terms of land survey by astronomy, the emphasis would have been on "upper" Taurus). The petroglyph is located on private land near Palo Duro Canyon and is also located close to our land survey Y-Axis.

Our decipherment above of what we call "the man-with-raised-arms petroglyph", located on a private ranch in or near Palo Duro Canyon, is based on a Flickr photograph made by "WY Man" in a set of photos at https://www.flickr.com/photos/63339942@N00/4872737358/in/set-72157632150890242.

We have color-coded our marked correspondences of cupmarks and stars, e.g. looking toward the left lower corner, just above the "meeting" knife-like and arrow-like symbols which we have painted red, compare the red foot-like marked area of the cupmarks left and the stars right. They are as good as identical, and so it is with numerous marked areas. For this many stars, such coincidental similarity is very unlikely.

Please note that the identification of cupmarks (cupules) above is our doing, so that of course one should have several neutral artists and other people with gifts of observation to map such cupmarks independently (the more the better). They may not see everything that we do, but it will be close to what we have and the "star" result will be the same, i.e. stars of Taurus, an elongated shape that very well fits Palo Duro Canyon topographically in the broad geographic land survey of Native America. The astronomers knew their terrain.

We thought the petroglyph would be older, but the marking of the Celestial Equator in the left corner at the meeting point of the red-color-emphasized knife-like and arrow-like symbols, if we interpret them properly, indicates that the date of this petroglyph is ca. 200 B.C. There may be things marked there astronomically that we have missed. We expect that there must be much older rock art in Palo Duro Canyon.

Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the United States, and has a long history of human habitation. As written at the Wikipedia:
"Palo Duro Canyon is a canyon system of the Caprock Escarpment located in the Texas Panhandle near the city of Amarillo, Texas, United States.[1] As the second largest canyon in the United States, it is roughly 70 mi (110 km) long and has an average width of 6 mi (9.7 km), but reaches a width of 20 mi (32 km) at places. Its depth is around 820 ft (250 m), but in some locations it can increase up to 1,000 ft (300 m). Palo Duro Canyon (from the Spanish meaning "hard stick")[2] has been named "The Grand Canyon of Texas" both for its size and for its dramatic geological features, including the multicolored layers of rock and steep mesa walls similar to those in the Grand Canyon.

[E]vidence of human habitation of the canyon dates back approximately 10,000–15,000 years, and it is believed to have been continuously inhabited to the present day. Native Americans were attracted to the water of the Prairie Dog Town Fork, Red River, as well as the consequent ample game, edible plants, and protection from weather the canyon provided."
As you read above, the translation of "Palo Duro" from the Spanish is "hard stick", which seems a strange name for a canyon, but do not overlook DURO as being similar to the term TAURUS, which in Spanish is TAURO.

Both book volumes contain the following basic book description:
"Alice Cunningham Fletcher observed in her 1902 publication in the American Anthropologist
that there is ample evidence that some ancient cultures in Native America, e.g. the Pawnee in Nebraska,
geographically located their villages according to patterns seen in stars of the heavens.
See Alice C. Fletcher, Star Cult Among the Pawnee--A Preliminary Report,
    American Anthropologist, 4, 730-736, 1902.
    Ralph N. Buckstaff wrote:
"These Indians recognized the constellations as we do, also the important stars,
drawing them according to their magnitude.
The groups were placed with a great deal of thought and care and show long study.
    ... They were keen observers....
The Pawnee Indians must have had a knowledge of astronomy comparable to that of the early white men."
See Ralph N. Buckstaff, Stars and Constellations of a Pawnee Sky Map,
    American Anthropologist, Vol. 29, Nr. 2, April-June 1927, pp. 279-285, 1927.
In our book, we take these observations one level further
and show that megalithic sites and petroglyphic rock carving and pictographic rock art in Native America,
together with mounds and earthworks, were made to represent territorial geographic landmarks
placed according to the stars of the sky using the ready map of the starry sky
in the hermetic tradition, "as above, so below".
That mirror image of the heavens on terrestrial land is the "Sky Earth" of Native America,
whose "rock stars" are the real stars of the heavens, "immortalized" by rock art petroglyphs, pictographs,
cave paintings, earthworks and mounds of various kinds (stone, earth, shells) on our Earth.
These landmarks were placed systematically in North America, Central America (Meso-America) and South America
and can to a large degree be reconstructed as the Sky Earth of Native America."
